On Sunday October 18th ZUID57, cultural centre and also the home of Dakota Theatre, will be turned into a palace of books. From top to bottom, the organisation will fill the building with stalls, stands and activities relating to language and reading. You can find all sorts of books there: picture books, football books, scary books, Young Adult-books and many many more.
Signing and workshops
Children can get their books signed by their favourite writers and illustrators. Amongst others: Niki Smit, Rindert Kromhout, Geronimo Stilton, Marcel van Driel, Roger Olmos, Alekos, Harm de Jonge, Betty Sluyzer and Christien Boomsma. They will read from their own work and tell you about their books and their art in the special WritersStudio. You can also take part in one of the Spanish, drawing, sign language and calligraphy workshops.
‘Strange, but true!’
That’s this year’s Children’s Book Week theme and also that of the Fair. This means there will be a lot of books about nature, science and technique. People who are looking for children’s books in other languages should definitely pay the Fair a visit. They will find lots of foreign books at the English, Turkish, Spanish, Colombian and German Language Pavilions. There’s also special attention for Arabic and Armenian.
